The 2018 CPD cycle instituted under the CPD Regulation (Solicitors (Continuing Professional Development) Regulations, 2017) S.I. 529 of 2017 came into effect on the 1st January 2018 and runs for the calendar year of 2018.

 

Every solicitor who is a sole practitioner or a compliance partner and/or an anti-money laundering compliance partner now has a CPD requirement which includes a minimum of 3 hours regulatory matters at least 2 hours of which shall be accounting and anti-money laundering compliance matters.

 

This seminar will focus on the following key areas;

1.         Money laundering compliance.

2.         Solicitors accounts regulations and Law Society Audits.

3.         The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal.

SPEAKERS

Fiona Stanley is an Investigating Accountant of the Law Society.  She is responsible for inspecting solicitors’ practices for compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Regulations, 2014 and reporting to the Regulation of Practice Committee 

 

Aidan Clifford, FCCA, FCA, Technical Director, ACCA Ireland

Aidan is the Technical Director for ACCA in Ireland, providing advice to accountants on technical auditing, accounting, ethical, AML and investment business issues. He also lectures extensively for ACCA on auditing, accounting and Anti-money Laundering to qualified members and students both in Ireland and abroad.

 

Brendan Savage was called to the Bar in 2008. He has a broad civil practice, with a particular focus on litigation and tort law. He also practices in the area of professional regulation and has appeared before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal and before the High Court on behalf of both applicants and respondents in the context of solicitors' disciplinary matters. He has published in the areas of civil practice and procedure and commercial law.
